WATERCOLORS WITH CATHERINE HILLIS

 

SUPPLY LIST:  2007

 

 

Arches 140 lb. paper, cold-pressed, a board (to attach your paper to),and art tape (for mounting paper to the board)

OR

One good quality watercolor “block”

 

Water container, paper towels, pencil and kneaded eraser, a spray bottle for water

 

a plastic watercolor palette to place tube paints in (the Robert Woods palette is great)

 

brushes:  be sure your brushes are a good quality from an art store, not a craft store.

One  #8 or #9 or #10 or #12  round

One 1” skyscraper flat; one wash brush

Any fine brushes that you like for detail work (riggers, or fine round tip brushes)

 

Tubes of watercolor paint:  I prefer professional grade paints made by Windsor-Newton, Da Vinci, Holbein, Rembrandt, etc.  Buy good quality paints and paper and your product will be first rate!    Do not feel compelled to purchase special colors:  the underlined colors are required.  Bring what you have and you can fill in later.

 

Permanent alizarin crimson                    lemon yellow or cadmium yellow

Permanent medium red             yellow ochre

Manganese blue                                    Bumblebee yellow, aureolin yello

Quinacridone Rose                               raw sienna

Burnt sienna                                          Prussian blue

Ultramarine blue                                   cerulean blue

Sap green                                             cobalt blue

Viridian green                                       sepia

Cadmium orange or

Halloween orange
